I flew home to Ontario from October 22-27 to spend time with my mom and visit my dad. I had a chance to tell him I loved him and to say what I wanted to say, which turned out to be very important, as he passed away 3 days after I flew home.
While I was in Ontario my Aunt Pauline threw my first baby shower! It was so fun to have my mom and grandma there, along with aunts, friends and other family members. Everyone was SO generous – I think our little girl will have enough clothes, blankets, bibs and onesies that I may not have to do laundry for the whole first year! (Wouldn’t that be nice?!)
My mom had saved a bunch of my clothes and blankets from when I was little – even the outfit I wore home from the hospital! And, most beloved, my “Myuk” (which was what I called that ratty, holey yellow blanket that I was rarely seen without during early childhood.
Here are some of the gifts I got…
This was the outfit I wore home from the hospital when I was a wee babe!
More of my baby clothes – 33 years old!
My baby blanket
My “myuk!” Where have you been???
Oliver stole the show with his new talent…
The very adorable Christmas outfit Meg bought for our little one – complete with tights!
Debbie got us a bear that plays music when you pull the string in its bum!
A cool gift from Kristen and Bryan – a blender cookbook and little ice cubes for the blended baby food. I think I will use it… do you?
Baby Kimono… grandma thinks a baby doesn’t need one of these “Ach! We never had those when WE had babies.” Oh, grandma, EVERY baby needs its own kimono.
A mobile from my mom. I assembled it myself! (Quite proud actually)
and a homemade quilt to match.
SO many gifts! Such generous friends…
And dessert! 4 generations of Martin/Snider/Bergstrom women all in one picture. Such a fun night… (Special thanks to Uncle Gord who was our photographer & videographer for the evening.)
