This past summer, Kent and I didn’t really get away on vacation – we took long weekends to Whistler etc but not for a full fledged getaway. When our boss offered for us to use his timeshare in Palm Springs we jumped on the chance! We booked flights from Bellingham, WA and took off from October 11-18!
The weather was gorgeous… up to 100 degrees fahrenheit! (That’s 39 C for you Canucks.)
Kent reading when he’s supposed to be packing!
View from the flight deck:
Even the airport is breezy and beautiful!
The first thing we did was hit the pool. Even in late afternoon it was hot enough to dive in.
Check out the cabanas…
they spritz you with water when you get too hot!
Homeboy luuuuvs his e-reader!
The 360 degree view around the Shadow Ridge Marriott was gorgeous.
Exploring the area. TONS of windmills power the area! Looks kinda cool…
Kent got hit with a rare craving for dollar ninety-nine pizza at the Market & Deli…
Basically a gas station store with restaurant tables on the outside? Is this a U.S. thing?!
Sheer delight...
Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!
Heard the U2 Album called Joshua Tree? It was inspired by cactus trees that grow throughout Joshua Tree National Park (hence the name).
Before we even entered the visitor’s centre I got a tiny cactus stuck to my belly! (I kinda forget how big I am sometimes.) Kent had to perform critical surgery so as to protect our little one.
Here’s a prime specimen of a Joshua Tree.
How much longer do I have to haul this baby around???
From here you can see Coachella Valley, Salton Sea and the San Andreas Fault.
You can even camp at the Park!
At the very end of the day we came across these Cholla (pronounced choya) cactii that they say will stab you if you go near them! Curious George had to give it a try… nothin.
We think maybe it is a cruel joke by the Native Americans just to see how gullible the tourists actually are!
What a fantastic day!
Shopping at the night market.
Walking “El Paseo” – the Palm Springs equivalent of Rodeo Drive. Unfortunately everything was closed already so we couldn’t buy anything.
But we definitely saw some Paris Hilton-esque puppies!
Sheldon regales Kent with the benefits of a Phil and Ted’s stroller…
We even baby sat for a night and were successful at getting the kids to bed!
Our final day in Palm Springs.
Byeeeeee!
